Tent Festival Unirock Puerto de Vega

National rock, international rock, covers, music but especially rock culture in a small fishing village. That, and much more, is the free rock festival Unirock in Puerto de Vega (Asturias).

In the so unknown Western Asturias there are jewels inside and on the coast, one of them is the small fishing village of Puerto de Vega.

That jewel, well worth a walk through its pier and narrow alleys, it has been filled every year for four years with the sound of guitars and drums, black t-shirts and a passion for rock, at the Unirock Festival.

Organized by the Unirock Association and non-profit, in its fourth edition, from August 25 to 26, the day started on Friday with activities for future generations, with children's workshops at 11.

Friday afternoon, a rocker makeup workshop at 4:00 p.m. and a guitar and bass tuning workshop gave way to the radio closure with a special program at 9:00 p.m. by "Noche de Lobos" (RPA), "Diario de un Metalhead" (Radio Ujo), "Morgana" (The Broker Sounds). And if you still wanted more, concert at the Havana Pub.

But the big unirock day, the day of the rock, the day of the direct ones would be Saturday.

A rock vermouth session at 1:00 p.m., with Blister on stage, the atmosphere warmed up in the wide esplanade of the Puerto de Vega dock parking lot. The beer taps began to work, without hurry but without pause. The heads moved to the beat of the music and the speakers competed with the shriek of the seagulls.

A fishing village always has more than one charming place to eat. My option, and my recommendation, does not have views of the sea or the pier but it does - in case of eating on the terrace - a small and flirtatious square.

El Mesón El Centro in Puerto de Vega (Plaza Cupido, 3) is an admirable example of the spirit of many local chefs by give an innovative touch to the best possible product, the one of the Cantabrian Sea and the orchard of Asturias.
