When we travel to an ancient city of tiny dimensions that is surrounded by the sea on three of its four sides, it is more than advisable for our mental well-being to look for an accommodation that does not go to an inner courtyard. If we can also stretch the budget a bit, when traveling to Malta The place to give us that whim is the Grand Hotel Excelsior, a five-star establishment a few minutes from the entrance to the old Valletta and the Triton Fountain, where the main bus station of the island is.

The hotel entrance is accessed by going down a slope, or quickly several flights of stairs, since its reception is at sea level. And from the lobby to the liquid element, there are barely 100 meters, either to the small hotel private beach or to the marina where they can moor up to 30 ships.

My room, category "Deluxe Room Partial Sea View" (what does it sound "big"? Because according to its website I had between 33 and 38 m2) I enjoyed some marina views, as you can see in the photo, and the Port of Marsamxett, on the other side.

I had no plans to try the quality of room service (the generally expensive Room Service) But when we arrived at the hotel, almost at eleven o'clock at night, his restaurant and kitchen had already closed.

Several travel companions * we decided to order some sandwiches and sandwiches because our stomach claimed calories and when we looked at the menu we were surprised at the low price of them (after all, we were in a five star hotel).

The waiter who brought dinner delivered it to the room a few minutes later, accompanied by a plate of chips (bag) for each sandwich or panini, as you can see in the photo taken with the mobile.
