Bangkok

When you see the lists of the most populous cities in Europe or U.S, think that it is before huge cities of cement that rise like giants that no David can tear down. They are the center of Western civilization, and in them lies much of the cake of world geopolitical power. However, when one looks at the list of the most populous cities in Asia, one realizes that those megaurbs of old Europe or the New World look like booby boys or girls next to the Asian giants.

Only New York could sneak into this Asian list, while London could barely occupy any of the positions of the tail van. This shows that the most populated cities in the world They are in Asia.

And it is that Asia is superlative. Only India and China already add several billion inhabitants and it is not uncommon that in this top 25 of the most populated cities in Asia, 13 are cities of these two countries (9 of China and 4 of India).

The Forbidden City, Beijing

Between the top 3 and the rest there is a fairly large jump, and 2 of the podium occupants are Chinese. Many thought it would be Beijing - the capital of the most populous country on the planet - the most populous city of all, but no, Shanghai snatches the dubious honor of Mao's old stronghold.

China and India are the two global giants of overpopulation. However, both countries face such a condition from a different economic position. While China has become a commercial giant that practically displaces the United States, India is still among the lagging students of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). The Indian caste system is one of the causes indicated for the stagnation of a country that, due to natural resources and labor force, should already be a world economic reference.

Because in the end, when populations reach the heights we see on this list, the truth is that the quality of life cannot be good. Or at least I want to think that I am more than happy in my native Alicante, where we barely touch the 30 inhabitants, but the Mediterranean Sea swells each of our hearts.
