To eat you have a wide range of restaurants around the craft market -where the tourist office is located- although I recommend that you go over them and eat at the famous cooks that offer a reduced menu of tasty and cheap homemade meals.
An alternative visit that starts from the same city is the tour to the Puñihuil penguin. It is located just 25 kilometers southwest of the city and a bus will take you there for about 2,000 pesos round trip. Ask from which terminal the bus leaves because it is not the one from Cruz del Sur. Then a boat will take you on the coast in search of the sighting of penguins. Depending on the people who manage to gather the ride you will leave for about 3,000 or 4,000 pesos, spending an entertaining day for about 10 euros to change.
We stayed there for a couple of nights and headed to Cucao, dodging Castro, a decision that ultimately proved very successful. I will tell you about the beautiful Cucao as soon as I find another place to tell you the things about this great trip. Greetings from La Serena, in Chile.
